The London System (PC-DVD) - Nigel Davies

The London System, 1.d4 followed by 2.Nf3 and 3.Bf4 avoids a theoretical discussion and places the emphasis on the middlegame struggle where knowledge of the plans for both sides will be paramount.

Despite the apparently quiet nature of the opening White can also pull off devastatingly quick wins should Black be unaware of the dangers. Against some of the most natural moves you can imagine, White often whips up huge attacks as frequently demonstrated by London System adherents past and present such as can be seen in the games of David Bronstein, Gata Kamsky, Vlatko Kovacevic and Pavel Blatny. On this DVD Davies explains how White should play against Black’s various different set-ups using twenty-one illustrative games. He also discusses how the typical pawn structures influence play later in the game so you won't ever find yourself on unfamiliar territory. Video running time: more than 4 hours.

Nigel Davies has been a Grandmaster since 1993 and is a former British Open Quickplay and U21 Champion. He has played the London System in tournaments.

System requirements: Pentium-Processor at 300 Mhz or higher, 64 MB RAM, Windows XP, Windows Vista, DVD drive, mouse, soundcard.
